The Helping Parents Helping Children Workshop was created to support parents in teaching their children in reading, phonics, mathematics and writing. By understanding the techniques taught in schools, parents will have the tools they need to encourage their child in their home learning. Parents will be taught key teaching and learning strategies. Set in a casual home environment, the session will cover specific topic areas in small, intimate groups – giving you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about your child’s progress.
The Workshop is ideal for parents with children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The 2-hour phonic session will give you an insight into the sounds the letters make, find out what happens in a typical phonic lesson. Learn definitions, acronyms and associated jargon that your child may be expected to understand. Useful phonic resources will help you remember. Learn tips and tricks for letters that make the same sound.
Learn how to extend your child’s mathematics skills.
During this session I will discuss mathematic teaching strategies. Learn methods and equipment used to consolidate your child’s mathematic skills and extend them further. Numeracy techniques frequently used in schools will give you the knowledge to teach numeracy at home.
What do good writers look like?
How to positive praise and encourage. What should and shouldn’t be corrected! Learn what your child needs to know in order to extend their writing and language skills. Effective writing games and tricky word games to be played at home.
